Paradise Beach: A Secluded White Sand Beach On Bantayan Island That You Should Visit

Sometimes, it’s really hard to believe that someplace looks like a paradise. And – I guess, Paradise beach in Bantayan must be really great if it’s way better than the long stretch of white sand beaches in Santa Fe Bantayan. That was exactly I told myself when I heard the word “Paradise Beach”. I know that each one of us has our own way of defining what paradise really is. But personally, as long as a certain place would render me a great happiness where everything is exactly I’d like it to be, I guess that is paradise for me.

Paradise Beach is known for being secluded, and it is peacefully located in the southern part of Bantayan Island. If you’re the kind of traveler who want to get away from the crowd, this beach is a perfect place for you. According to one of the locals, which I had a chance to talk with, he said that Paradise Beach is owned by the same owners of Santa Fe Beach Club and Ogtong Cave Resort. The beach is open from 9AM to 5PM and the entrance fee is PHP 50.00 for adult and PHP 25 for children.

Moreover, Paradise beach is a picture-perfect beach, which owns turquoise waters and very fine white sand with serene environment where you can perfectly commune with nature.

We all seemed to be very tired after exploring the Obo-Ob Mangrove Eco Park, but we can’t deny the fact the we are as well very excited to see what the Paradise beach has to offer. Soon, after a few minutes of travel, the tricycle suddenly stopped. And our driver told us that we need to trek for about 10-15 minutes to go to the beach, since motorcycle and tricycle can’t get straight near the entrance because of lack of road access. Hence, we immediately went down and we hike. Truly, the road leading to the beach is no good for any vehicle, perchance because they want the place to remain in its natural beauty.

After paying the entrance fee, we were welcomed by the sea breeze kissing our surface. The beach is really stunning, and true to its name, it is indeed a paradise. The secluded strip of powdery white sand with an enticing turquoise water to take a dip, is truly worth spending a day on. The beach doesn’t own any cottages, but the karst formations that are scattering around could be a perfect spot to get some shade from the clinging heat of the sun. Likewise, some coconut trees could also provide shade, especially during the afternoon.

It was a bit crowded the moment we arrived, but we truly have enjoyed the place. You may get lucky to own this beach exclusively for you, probably during weekday, since it’s not crowded. Though, this place may not feed you a lot of things to do, except for swimming in its aquamarine waters. Additionally, there’s a reef nearby where you can do snorkeling and probably working on your tan skin that you have long been dreaming to achieve. This might be a perfect spot for you, since the place doesn’t provide so much shade except for a few coconut palms near the beach.

We couldn’t afford to just leave the Paradise beach without experiencing its turquoise waters, thus we decided to drench ourselves in a crystal clear water that the Paradise beach has to offer. The clinging heat of the sun might have been so strong. But, the cold salty water has mollified us that we nearly forgot about coming out of the water and leave, since we need to proceed to another spot on Bantayan Island. We took a batch of photos and we truly have enjoyed the place, despite the crowd.

We didn’t notice the time since we were really enjoying, until such time, one of my friends look for a water since she seemed thirsty. We were actually looking for a store, but unfortunately, we couldn’t find a store nearby. The good thing was, we still had a bottle of water with us and some food to nibble because the clinging heat of the sunshine has made us thirsty and hungry.

Additionally, In Less than 2 kilometers to the east side of Paradise Beach is where the Ogtong Cave Resort located. This Resort is known for owning a small cave with a natural freshwater pool, and by saying “small”, you can’t even swim in the said cave pool, and all you can do here is take a dip. We were supposed to visit this place, only knowing that the entrance fee that time was PHP 200.00, we didn’t pursue it. We found the entrance fee expensive, that’s why we resolved not to visit the place. Nevertheless, upon paying the entrance fee, the visitor is allowed to use the resort’s facilities including their swimming pools.

How to Get to Paradise Beach in Bantayan

The easiest and most convenient way to get to Bantayan Island is via Cebu City, since Bantayan Island is part of the Province of Cebu. Thus, here’s a guide to get to Bantayan Island.

There are daily flights to Cebu from Manila, Davao and other part of the Philippines with Major Airlines (Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific and Air Asia). From the Mactan Cebu International Airport, ride a taxi going to North Bus Terminal.

There’s a MyBus outside the airport near the exit gate on the right side. From the Airport, the drop off point is in Parkmall and SM Cebu. The fare is Php 50.00. Trip schedules are from 7:00AM to 9:00PM with a 30 minute interval. And since Parkmall is located near the Cebu North Bus Terminal, you just have to ride a Jeepney or Taxi going to the terminal. The Jeepney fare from Parkmall is around PHP 8.00, but don’t forget to look for 01K Jeepney. And for the Taxi, the fare is around PHP 70.00-100.00, depending on the traffic flow.

From Cebu North Bus Terminal

Take a Ceres Bus bound for Hagnaya Port. The travel time is around 4 hours and the fare is around PHP 175.00. You can as well choose to take a direct Bus to Bantayan Island and the fare is around PHP 200.00, but boat fare is still excluded. Taking the direct Bus to Bantayan Island could be a bit complicated, so I’ll recommend taking a Bus bound for Hagnaya Port then just take a ferry boat from Hagnaya to Santa Fe Port.

From Hagnaya Port in San Remigio, Cebu, buy your ticket to get to Bantayan Island. You can choose between Island Shipping or Super Shuttle Ferry bound for Santa Fe Port. In our case, we took the Island Shipping. The first trip is at 3:00 AM, and the last trip is 5:30 PM. The travel time is around 1 hour, and the fare is around PHP 185.00. You also need to pay for an additional PHP 10.00 for your Terminal Fee.

The moment you arrived it at the Santa Fe Port, you have to pay the Ecological Fee, which is around PHP 30.00. From the port, take a tricycle to your Resort and fare is around PHP 20-30. Only, if you have booked your Hotel beforehand and have pre-arranged shuttle service with the Resort, then they will pick you up at the Port.

Going to Paradise Beach from Sta. Fe, Bantayan.

As you set foot on Bantayan Island, specifically in Santa Fe, since this is the best jump off point, then you can take a motorcycle or tricycle going to Paradise Beach. The travel time is around 20-25 minutes. The drop off point is on the side of the road that leads to the Paradise beach and from there, you still need to hike for around 10-15 minutes depending on your pacing. The trail isn’t not difficult though, but it can be very slippery, especially if it rains on a day before your visit.

In our case during our visit on Bantayan Island, since we were five that time. We rented a tricycle that took us on a tour around the beautiful spots in the Southern part of Bantayan, which includes; Obo-Ob Mangrove Eco Park, Paradise Beach, Ogtong Cave Resort, and The Ruins for only PHP 700.00.

  • If you’re traveling alone or with someone, I strongly advise that you rent a motorbike which only costs around PHP 300.00 to PHP 400.00 for 24 hours, so you can amble around the Bantayan Island at your own pace. Moreover, there are many Motorbike rentals around Sta. Fe, Bantayan just ask the locals.
  • Alternatively, just in case you don’t know how to drive a motorcycle, Habal-Habal or Motorcycle driver can always be found around the Island. The only problem is that, it gets expensive, since they charge you per destination (around PHP 50-100 per tourist spot, depending on the distance of the place).

Paradise Beach Travel Tips

  • Entrance Fee is PHP 50.00 for adult and PHP 25.00 for children. The Paradise beach is open from 9am to 5pm daily. I advise that you go here during the weekdays so you can own the whole beach exclusively for you, since it gets really crowded during weekends and during Holy week.
  • Don’t forget to bring your drinks and food to nibble since you can’t find any store nearby.
  • Bring your snorkeling gear as well, since there’s a reef nearby where you can enjoy.
  • Please remember to Leave No Trace (LNT) behind. Take good care of our mother nature. Just enjoy and be responsible enough.
