Kims Garden Inn: Anda’s Affordable Place To Stay

Looking for an affordable place to rest for a night right after a fun-filled adventure In Binabaje Hills, Cadapdapan Rice Terraces, Can-Umantad Falls and Canawa Cold Spring is somewhat our priority for that afternoon. Actually, we are four travelers from Cebu during our visit in Bohol. But, since our other two friends have different route, me and Aloysius arrived at Anda Beach earlier than them. Two of our friends are still on their way to Anda from their scary plunge in Danao. And since we arrived first, we look for an affordable place to rest.

Fate has been very good to us, just before our other two friends arrived, we were able to find a great, but an affordable place to stay. We checked in at Kims-Garden Inn just before the sun peacefully rested below the horizon. We were actually really lucky that time cause there were only two fan rooms available, and each room has two single beds, clean cabinet and electric fan. We immediately grab the opportunity, as we have been ambling around, but we weren’t able to find a place that could meet our budget.

Shortly after the receptionist gave us the key, we immediately got in our room. The room is quite big for two, it has two single beds with clean bedding and each bed has one medium size pillow. At first, it was very hot, since our room is located on the second level.

The room doesn’t own a toilet inside, but they have a large and very clean toilet to be used by their guests. One bathroom is located in the Kims Garden Inn and the other two toilets are located outside, which is just close to the Reception area. The room we had was only Php 499.00 good for two. They don’t have a free towel to use as well, but you can rent a towel for only Php 50.00 each.

The room is made of bamboo and other indigenous materials. Each room has unique walls, it is made of bamboo fiber which is interwoven into a matting called, Amakan.

Amakan is not new to me cause our house in our province is made of Amakan. It is crafted into rolls which are roughly 8 meters in length. The whorls of this mattings are being fleeced in the sea for one day to naturally provide protection. In this way, the material will be free from termites and any residual sap from the initial harvest of the bamboo will also be taken out. The forms of fibers can take on many shapes and add a splash of natural beauty to the interior and exterior of the houses, and this I guess the Kims Garden Inn is trying to achieve.

I truly love how Kims Garden Inn is being existed in Anda Beach. They are really patronizing our native products in the Philippines like this one. They are one of those budget Inns that really make use of natural materials as a highlight to the overall environmental, cultural, economic and social sustainability.

Apart from the beautiful and affordable room they have. The Kims Garden Inn also has a Hangover Restobar, which is always crowded almost every nighttime. They serve luscious food, beer and other mix drinks as well. The wooden bench in their Restobar is very welcoming, it is because they put a tiny smiley pillow, which for me is very great and cute. They also have a wooden swing where you have a photo with beautiful nature painting as a backdrop. The whole place is just awesome, the staff is friendly and accommodating as well.

The Kims Garden Inn is actually located very near to Anda’s long white sand beach or commonly known as Quinale beach. Their room rates are ranging from Php 499.00, P599.00 to P699.00, and Good for 2 people.

  1. The rooms reminded me of our accommodation in Flores. Bamboo and bamboo from floor to ceiling. I think because bamboo are easily find in the Southeast Asia.

  2. This seems like a great place to stay. I don’t mind sharing a bathroom if I am traveling on a budget, as long as it is clean. And the restaurant sounds excellent too. I like how the accommodation uses natural materials.

  3. Kim’s Garden sounds like a great place to stay in Andas. I’ve never heard of amakan but if it serves several purposes for decoration and keeping away termites it sounds like a perfect choice. It is so important that businesses support local products and the local economy, well done them!
