A few iconic images of colorful flowers will immediately leap to mind when you think of Amsterdam. But don’t worry because you don’t have to travel to Amsterdam to experience and see it with your naked eyes. A flower fields in full bloom, located in the mountain of Cebu is the new famous tourist spot known as Sirao Flower farm or some called it, “The little Amsterdam.” The Flower farm open their doors to public last 3rd quarter of 2015.
It was an astonishing view seeing beautiful flowers every time I open my social media account (Facebook and Instagram). Since I was rather busy last year, I wasn’t able to visit the Flower farm. But exactly this year, me and my friends decided to visit the place.
These flowers called Celosia or wool flowers, they have unusual flowers that can blossom up to 10 weeks. These flowers can have red, pink, royal, gold or bi-colored blooms. Not all colors, flowers look the same, at that place are many shapes, colors and sizes (from 6 inches to 2 feet). And each flower is made up of many tiny flowers, which is why this flower will produce numerous small seeds and keep sprouting in the ground with no extra efforts.
The flowers are naturally attractive, it sustains the unique distinction, and amazingly stunning. No wonder it is very crowd-pleasing in social media. The Flower farm is a dependable venue for photo shoots and of course a perfect background for “selfies”.
I have borne upon the flowers, and they are amazingly soft.
Their eye-catching magnificence in the garden will eventually blow you away because of their vivid hues that practically glow, lighting up the garden even on the rainiest summer days, jewel-colored feathers, wrinkly-looking knobs and elongated cones. Immersing yourself to these colorful fields of flowers providing a feast for the eyes is beyond compare. You’ll surely love the tactile sensation of being surrounded with rainbow of flowers. So what are you still waiting for? Don’t ever miss one of the Cebu’s most photogenic attractions.
I’m sure the caretaker of this flower farm has an artistic eye and holds a special love for flowers because the flowers have grown so well.
HOW TO GET THERE
Ride a Habal-Habal (Motorcycle) from JY Square Mall, Lahug. The travel time is approximately 35-45 minutes. Back and forth fare is 200 pesos. But you can opt to haggle the price from 200 down to 170 pesos. Honestly, 200 pesos are actually the most reasonable fare since the spot is really far. The driver will also ask for an additional 50 pesos since they have to await.
If you take in your own vehicle, going there is very easy. When you see Ayala Heights-turn left and proceed straight until you can find the tarpaulin on the left side that says Sirao Flower farmer.
TRAVEL TIPS
- Entry fee is Php30 pesos for unlimited photos, and for taking videos they will charge you Php100 pesos as of February 2016.
- The farm area is actually not that wide, just enough to gratify you.
- The Celosia flowers are not available the whole year round.
Wow… it’s so good for my eyes satisfaction… I’d love to visit there. ..

Oh! We have lots of these flowers before back when we were still living in our hometown. My mother loves to plant flowers so we have so many cheap but really nice flowers everywhere. Now I miss home even more! These flowers are really lovely!

It’s my first time hearing of Celosia, but I’ve seen unbloomed Celosia before in bouquets. It’s nice to know that there is a flower farm where one can enjoy it. You mentioned that the flowers bloom for only 10 weeks. So when is the best time to go there? It’s especially important for those who are traveling from far places.

Having grown up on a flower farm, now I’m thinking we should have charged admission! While I certainly don’t romanticize farm life, I do still love visiting other flower farms.
